Baghdad - The Kurdistan Regional Government rejected the artillery shelling of border posts in the region.
"While we affirm our commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in the affairs of others, and that we are not a party to the problems between the Islamic Republic and the opposition groups, we do not want to target civilians in the border areas of the region under this cover, who are residents of border villages, or be victims of the bombing of the Islamic Republic of Iran." A statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government said.
"While the KRG condemns this bombing, it calls on the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop these attacks on civilians and on the territory of the Kurdistan region," the statement said.
The statement pointed out that the Kurdistan Regional Government summoned the Iranian consul to hand him a letter expressing their rejection of the bombing, to be taken to the Iranian capital Tehran.
