Nechirvan Barzani Hails Australia Role In The Int’l Coalition Against Daesh

BAGHDAD / President of the Kurdistan Regional Government Nechirvan Barzani praised the role of Australia in the international coalition against terror Daesh and continuous support for the region.

Barzani, during a meeting in Arbil with Australian Ambassador Christopher Lankman, according to a statement to the Kurdistan Regional Government, said: The real continuous support to Peshmerga forces by the coalition forces was the cause of achieving a lot of victories against terrorist Daesh gangs, in addition to the level of positive military cooperation between Arbil and Baghdad in the war against those gangs in Mosul.

He noted that "the government of the Kurdistan region is in the right track in the field of social, administrative and economic reforms, stressing that the financial crisis in the region was an opportunity to review a lot of things and provide other sources of revenue.

During the meeting, he stressed "the need to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan region and Australia.

For his part, the Australian ambassador, during the meeting, praised "the role and sacrifices of the Peshmerga forces in the fight against terrorism, reviewing his country's role in the framework of the International Alliance Against Daesh.

The two sides discussed, during the meeting, according to the statement "the liberation battles of Mosul and relations between the provincial government and the federal government .
