WASHINGTON, June 1- The US-led coalition launched 23 airstrikes against the Islamic (IS) targets in Syria and Iraq Monday, destroying several of the terrorist group’s fighting facilities, units, and vehicles.
In Syria, the coalition’s warplanes launched 13 airstrikes against IS targets in areas in northeastern the country, the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement.
Near Hasakah, nine airstrikes struck eight IS tactical units, destroying seven of its fighting positions, two vehicles, and weapons cache.
Near Raqqah, one airstrike struck an IS airfield, while three airstrikes struck an IS tactical unit near Kobani, destroying 13 of its fighting positions.
In Iraq, the coalition’s attack fighter and a remotely piloted aircraft launched 10 airstrikes, said the statement.
Near Bayji, two airstrikes struck an IS tactical unit and land features, destroying a tactical advantage and resupply vehicle.
Near Fallujah, two airstrikes struck two IS tactical units, destroying two staging areas, a fighting position, and a heavy machine gun.
Near Mosul, two airstrikes struck an IS tactical unit and an IS VBIED facility, destroying two buildings, a heavy machine gun, a mortar system, and a rocket launcher.
Near Ramadi, one airstrike destroyed an IS crane, while an airstrike struck the terrorist group’s tactical unit near Sinjar, destroying two buildings and a heavy machine gun.
Near Tal Afar, two airstrikes struck an IS tactical unit and two mortar positions, destroying two heavy machine guns and a building.
