Mosul: The Turkish Consul General in Mosul, Serhad Varli, visited the ancient city of Hatra, where he was received by the Mayor of Hatra District, Basman Ahmed Al-Sultan, and a number of local officials. Al-Sultan told the National Iraqi News Agency /NINA/ that “the visit included a detailed explanation of the efforts to preserve the city, which is one of the most famous archaeological cities in the world, and which has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The spotlight was also on the rescue work currently being carried out to maintain some important artifacts, and the historical importance of the site, which represents an essential part of the history of the civilizations of Mesopotamia, was explained.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Consul General expressed his happiness with this visit, which allowed him to get acquainted with the unique archaeological landmarks in the city of Hatra. He expressed his appreciation to the local administration in Hatra and the management of the archaeological site for the warm reception, praising the measures taken to protect this important cultural heritage.
