Al-Sudani Praises Iraqi Parliament for Amending Budget Law


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani expressed his appreciation for the responsible and constructive step by the House of Representatives in approving the amendment to the Federal General Budget Law of the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023-2024-2025, Law (13 of 2023), according to the text of the amendment received from the Council of Ministers.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, government Spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi stated that Al-Sudani extended his thanks to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the First Deputy Chairman of today’s session, the Second Deputy, and the heads of the parliamentary blocs. Their understanding and support for the government’s vision, which is aligned with the priorities previously approved by the people’s representatives, were crucial in implementing the government’s program to meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people nationwide.



He emphasized that the voting on the amendment, as approved by the Council of Ministers, underscores the political stability and mutual understanding characterizing this stage. It also reflects the strong cooperation between the government and the House of Representatives to continue working together, ensuring the momentum of development, reconstruction, and reform. This collaboration is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address problems and challenges with a sense of responsibility, focused on the supreme interests of Iraq.



He further explained that, based on this amendment, the Prime Minister calls on both the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the Federal Ministry of Oil to immediately begin implementing the amendment. The goal is to optimally invest Iraq’s natural resources, particularly its oil wealth, to support stability and drive the achievement of plans and programs that fulfill the needs of the Iraqi people.
