Tehran: The Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy, Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri, confirmed today that Iran possesses the capability to close the Strait of Hormuz. Tangsiri emphasized in a television interview that the decision to close the crucial waterway rests with senior officials, while noting that Iran has no immediate plans to do so as long as it continues to utilize the strait.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Admiral Tangsiri’s remarks were a direct response to recent statements made by US President Donald Trump, who announced intentions to prevent Iranian oil exports and impose severe sanctions. Tangsiri expressed confidence that the United States would not succeed in its objectives, highlighting Iran’s resilience in the face of threats over the past 46 years.

In an unprecedented development, the Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy revealed that four Iranian ships, along with the Iranian army, were en route to the United Arab Emirates. This move marks a first-of-its-kind visit, where the Iranian ships will meet their Emirati counterparts. Tangsiri underscored the ability of regional countries to maintain their own security without foreign intervention.

The importance of sustaining navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz was also highlighted by Admiral Tangsiri. He stated, “We have ensured the security of the Strait of Hormuz for years, and we have taken effective measures in this area,” reiterating Iran’s commitment to safeguarding the vital maritime passage.
