Baghdad: The number of injured from the explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, has risen to 516, according to Iran’s Emergency Management Authority. The port, which is a critical hub in Iran’s maritime economy, experienced an explosion earlier today. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Babak Yektaparast, the spokesman for the Emergency Management Authority, reported that 15 ambulances and four buses were dispatched to the scene to transport the injured. In response to the incident, the emergency department in Shiraz was put on high alert.
The explosion’s impact on the port’s infrastructure has been a concern, but IRNA, the Iranian news agency, confirmed through the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company that the blast did not affect the nearby refineries, fuel tanks, or oil pipelines.
