Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a crucial meeting aimed at advancing the Faw Investment Refinery Project. The meeting was attended by several advisors to the Prime Minister and the Directors-General of the Ministries of Finance and Oil. The focus was on resolving administrative and technical issues that had been delaying the project’s progress.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that significant strides were made during the meeting to address the hurdles impeding the start of work at the refinery. Efforts are underway to streamline and adapt procedures to ensure the project requirements are met, paving the way for the commencement of implementation.
Prime Minister al-Sudani emphasized the project’s economic significance, noting its potential to generate substantial financial returns and transform the oil industry. He asserted that the project’s completion aligns with the government’s broader objectives of reforming public companies, enhancing the work environment, achieving profitability, and bolstering the federal budget.
