Al-Sudani Affirms Commitment To Rights And Freedoms Of All Iraqi Components

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed that: "Iraq is proud of its religious, social and cultural diversity," pointing to the government's firm commitment to guaranteeing the rights of all components and their religious and social freedoms, in addition to their active participation in building their country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from his media office stated: "Al-Sudani received, on Wednesday, the head of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Britain, Archbishop Athanasius Thomas Dawood. During the meeting, they reviewed the role of various religious institutions in consolidating the principles of peaceful coexistence, spreading a culture of tolerance, and promoting social integration among all segments of Iraqi society."

The Prime Minister affirmed: "Iraq is proud of its religious, social, and cultural diversity, noting the government's firm commitment to guaranteeing the rights and religious and social freedoms of all components, as well as their active participation in building their country."

According to the statement, Al-Sudani highlighted the importance of cooperation to confront hate speech and racism, and to work to strengthen consensus and common ground among all components of the Iraqi people.

In turn, Bishop Athanasius Toma Dawood expressed his thanks and appreciation to Al-Sudani for the government's efforts in the construction and reconstruction campaigns, and imposing stability, especially in the Nineveh Plains, as well as contributing to strengthening unity among segments of the people, serving society, and consolidating a culture of peaceful coexistence and love.
