Al-Sudani to Honor Iraqi National Football Team After Historic Win and World Cup Qualification

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani has directed that the national football team players be honored following their victory over the UAE and subsequent qualification for the continental playoff for the 2026 World Cup. This directive comes as a recognition of the team's significant achievement on the international stage.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the national team players, coaching staff, and management on their successful qualification for the decisive continental playoff. In a phone conversation with Adnan Darjal, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, al-Sudani underscored the importance of this accomplishment as a pivotal step towards the World Cup finals.

In his address to the players, al-Sudani lauded their outstanding performance and the spirit of determination they displayed, which he described as pivotal to their success. He affirmed the government's commitment to support the team in the upcoming continental playoff stage, reflecting the aspirations of the Iraqi people and sports enthusiasts for World Cup qualification.

Adnan Darjal, in response, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Prime Minister for his unwavering support throughout the qualifiers.
