Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized the significance of enhancing consular work as a means to build confidence and create an attractive environment for companies and investors. His comments were made during the opening of the second Consular Forum of the year, which was attended by ambassadors and consuls from diplomatic missions operating in Iraq.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hussein pointed out that the forum serves as a vital platform for dialogue and the exchange of perspectives with representatives from friendly and brotherly nations. He highlighted that effective and modernized consular work plays a crucial role in facilitating investments, providing legal support, promoting tourism, and strengthening the rights of expatriate communities.
The event featured an introductory video that outlined the forum’s objectives and the evolution of consular services. This was followed by two discussion sessions with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Justice, along with representatives from the Baghdad Municipality and the Kurdistan Regional Government. These sessions included extensive discussions aimed at improving cooperation mechanisms and enhancing consular services.
