Tehran: The Minister of Water Resources discusses with his Iranian counterpart ways to enhance cooperation to address water scarcity. Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah, headed the Iraqi delegation participating in the 14th Conference of the Regional Center for Urban Water Management, held in Tehran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dhiyab also met with Iranian Minister of Energy Abbas Ali Abadi to discuss the challenges of drought and water scarcity facing both countries. The discussions focused on mechanisms for managing shared water resources, particularly cross-border rivers and streams such as the Shatt al-Arab, Sirwan, Kalar Badra, Zurbatiyah, and Wadi al-Naft.

The Iranian side expressed its readiness to enhance cooperation and develop joint projects through specialized and reputable companies. These projects include seawater desalination, the reuse of treated wastewater, and irrigation initiatives.
