Washington: The Iraqi Embassy in Washington welcomed the US House of Representatives’ vote to repeal the authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Iraqi Embassy expressed its approval of the decision, stating: “The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington welcomes the US House of Representatives’ vote to repeal the 1991 and 2002 authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq and to repeal the War Powers Resolution, in a step that strengthens the partnership between Iraq and the United States and supports the bilateral relationship based on dialogue and cooperation.”

The US House of Representatives recently voted on the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes the repeal of the authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq. The vote resulted in 312 members in favor and 212 against.
