Baghdad: A local official was killed inside his home northeast of Baquba, the capital of Diyala Governorate. A security source told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the former director of irrigation and drainage projects in Al-Muqdadiyah district, Engineer Hashim Zaini Al-Tamimi, was killed inside his home by his son, who suffers from mental illness.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the source added that security forces arrested the perpetrator and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
