Ankara: The Turkish Foreign Ministry described the recent developments in Yemen as “worrying,” praising Saudi Arabia’s “wise approach” in confronting the escalation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its concern over the recent developments in Yemen, commending Saudi Arabia for its “wise approach” in managing the situation. The ministry also acknowledged the efforts of Saudi and Emirati initiatives aimed at establishing security and stability in Yemen.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to supporting all initiatives that aim to preserve Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, alongside ensuring prosperity and peace in the region.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry released a statement highlighting that the Southern Transitional Council’s actions in the Hadramawt and Al-Mahra governorates were taken unilaterally, without the consent of the Presidential Leadership Council or coordination with the leadership of the Arab Coalition led by Riyadh. Saudi Arabia emphasized the necessity for cooperation among all Yemeni factions to maintain restraint and prevent actions that could jeopardize security and stability, warning of potential dire consequences.

The Saudi stance received support from Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, local authorities in Hadramawt, the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance, and major Yemeni political parties and groups.

Since the beginning of the month, the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which advocates for the secession of southern Yemen from the north, has taken control of the Hadramawt and Al-Mahra governorates. Despite local and regional appeals for withdrawal, as well as regional and international peace efforts, the STC has refused to relent, heightening fears of a potential division of the country.
