Baghdad: A suspect has been arrested by the Al-Karkh Police Command in Baghdad for allegedly impersonating a humanitarian worker and unlawfully collecting money from citizens under the guise of treating patients, using forged medical reports.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest was made after information circulated on social media revealed that individuals were visiting citizens’ homes and soliciting donations based on false humanitarian claims. A specialized security team conducted thorough investigations and field surveillance, which led to the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of materials directly linked to the fraudulent activities.

The police have confirmed that legal measures have been taken against the suspect, who remains in custody pending referral to the competent judiciary. The Al-Karkh Police Command has urged citizens to avoid engaging with unlicensed or unofficial entities and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
