Diyala: Eight people were killed and two others injured in a horrific traffic accident on the road linking Diyala Governorate to the capital, Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the accident occurred on Baghdad-Kirkuk road near the town of Al-Khalis, north of Baquba, between a private Genesis and a Kia taxi carrying pilgrims heading to the city of Kadhimiyah for the Rajab pilgrimage.

The accident resulted in the death of eight people and injuries to two others. The bodies were transferred to the forensic medicine department to complete the legal procedures, and the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
