Earthquake of Magnitude 4 Strikes Dead Sea in Jordan


Amman: An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale struck the Dead Sea in Jordan. The Jordanian Seismological Observatory, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, recorded the earthquake at a depth of 17 kilometers.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba region in southern Jordan experiences continuous seismic activity, though it is not felt. However, the Aqaba earthquake of November 1995, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, remains the most powerful in the country’s history.
