Babylon: Babylon Police announced the arrest of a gang targeting women in Al-Hamza Al-Gharbi and Baghdad. The operation comes after reports of a woman’s gold jewelry being stolen through a fake social media account.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Babylon Police Media Director, Brigadier General Adel Al-Husseini, revealed that the police acted swiftly upon receiving the report. The Babylon Police Command formed a dedicated security team, including the Director of the Babylon Criminal Investigation Department and the Criminal Investigation Division in Al-Hamza Al-Gharbi, located south of Hillah.
Brigadier General Al-Husseini detailed that the team executed a well-planned ambush which resulted in the arrest of the suspects in Baghdad. The operation also led to the recovery of the stolen gold jewelry. During interrogation, the two suspects admitted to committing 10 similar fraud and theft operations in various governorates. They had been exploiting women by luring them through fake social media accounts.
Legal measures have been taken against the suspects, underscoring the commitment to uphold the law and ensure the safety of citizens and their belongings.
