Basra: Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, in the presence of British Ambassador to Iraq Irfan Siddiq, inaugurated the pilot units for household water purification and seawater desalination on Monday. The initiative marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to address water scarcity issues in the region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the inauguration of the pilot unit is part of the Iraqi-British agreement at the balancing basins within the North Rumaila site. This collaboration aims to enhance water quality and availability for residents by implementing advanced purification and desalination technologies.
The event also saw the participation of the Director of the Water Department at the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Ammar Adel Al-Maliki, and Provincial Council member Aqeel Al-Fariji. Their presence underscored the importance of multi-level cooperation in tackling the water challenges faced by the region.
