Iraq and Qatar Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Military Cooperation


Baghdad: Iraqi Defense Minister Thabit Mohammed Saeed Al-Abbasi signed a memorandum of understanding with Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar. The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise, and develop military training and coordination to serve the common interests of both countries.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Defense indicated that Al-Abbasi visited the State of Qatar at the head of a high-level security delegation. The visit is part of efforts to strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries and discuss ways to develop joint cooperation in the military and defense fields.



The memorandum of understanding, signed by both Iraqi and Qatari defense ministers, focuses on enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise, and developing military training and coordination. This initiative aims to serve the mutual interests of Iraq and Qatar.



According to the statement, the visit underscores both countries’ commitment to strengthening fraternal relations and enhancing defense cooperation, contributing to the support of security and stability in the region.
