Syrian President and Iraqi Prime Minister Discuss Border Security in Phone Call


Baghdad: In a recent phone conversation, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa affirmed his country’s commitment to the security of the shared border with Iraq, speaking directly with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. This dialogue highlights the ongoing collaboration between the two nations in addressing regional security issues.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the call addressed the latest developments in Syria and the security challenges the nation faces. Al-Sudani emphasized Iraq’s dedication to preserving Syria’s security and stability. He highlighted the importance of dialogue in resolving crises, ensuring the rights of all Syrian people, and maintaining the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territory.



During the conversation, President al-Sharaa praised the Iraqi government’s efforts and measures to secure the border, noting the strengthening of bilateral coordination between Iraq and Syria. This includes efforts in the security field to protect the border, pursue ISIS remnants, and coordinate the reopening of border crossings between the two countries.
