President and Prime Minister Advocate for National Unity to Expedite Government Formation


Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of national unity and joint action among political forces to expedite the formation of the next government, address current challenges, and strengthen existing stability.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Prime Minister’s office revealed that al-Sudani met with President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid to discuss developments in the political, security, and economic situation in the country. The leaders stressed the significance of national unity and collaborative efforts among political forces to speed up the formation of the next government, address the prevailing challenges, and strengthen stability to meet citizen aspirations and achieve the nation’s best interests.



The meeting also covered recent developments in Syria, highlighting the importance of reducing tensions and working to consolidate security and stability throughout the region. The leaders emphasized protecting the rights of all components of the Syrian population in a manner that preserves Syria’s unity and sovereignty while ensuring the safety of its citizens.



Rashid and al-Sudani underscored the necessity to support political and diplomatic efforts aimed at finding a comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis. They stressed the importance of a solution that aligns with the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, peace, and development, thereby enhancing opportunities for recovery and reconstruction.
