Al-Sudani Chairs a Meeting to Follow Up on Baghdad Metro Project

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting to follow up on the Baghdad Metro project, in the presence of the Mayor of Baghdad and a number of advisors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed the procedures implemented based on the directives issued in the previous meeting, which included exploring the best implementation methods and forming a specialized team to complete the project.

The Mayor of Baghdad presented a summary of the meeting held earlier between the Baghdad Municipality and the Iraq Development Fund, along with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank, regarding the required needs.

The meeting emphasized the need for the Baghdad Municipality and other relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive vision for the metro system, encompassing technical and engineering aspects. This vision will enable the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to provide a comprehensive, long-term plan for metro routes, implementation, and subsequent development, addressing the transportation needs of a major city like Baghdad. The IFC was specifically tasked with developing a roadmap and preparing a comprehensive investment portfolio.

The Prime Minister directed the continuation of studies and a thorough examination of all aspects and requirements of this massive service project.
