Baghdad: The National Security Council has announced the formation of a specialized committee tasked with overseeing the transfer and prosecution of ISIS terrorists. This decision was reached during a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the transfer of ISIS terrorists from Syrian prisons and discussed all related security details. The Council reaffirmed the importance of its previous decision, highlighting that this move is a security measure essential for protecting Iraq. The Council further stressed the importance of ongoing cooperation with international coalition leaders and urged the international community to uphold its responsibilities in this matter.
The statement also noted that the Council has approved a comprehensive plan to facilitate this process. A unified security committee will be established to oversee the transfer and handling of ISIS members, ensuring that they are ultimately brought to justice.
