Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Adnan Fayhan, emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations between Baghdad and Moscow and expanding prospects for cooperation across various fields.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fayhan received on Monday, at his office, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Alperus Kotrashiev, along with his accompanying delegation. The meeting addressed the latest political developments, ongoing discussions among national forces to complete constitutional entitlements, and ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. It also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments.
Fayhan emphasized the significance of strengthening Iraqi-Russian relations in areas of mutual interest, in a manner that supports reconstruction and development efforts. He underscored the need to support initiatives aimed at consolidating stability in Iraq amid the challenges facing the region, noting that Iraq’s security constitutes a fundamental pillar for regional stability. He further called for expanding cooperation in various sectors, particularly economic, investment, health, and cultural fields, in a way that serves the shared interests of the two friendly peoples.
