Expanded Security Meeting Focuses on Prison Protection and Border Security


Baghdad: The Security Media Cell announced today, Monday, that an expanded meeting was held, attended by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, and Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, to discuss security plans and prison protection.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Cell stated in a press release that “an expanded meeting was held at the Joint Operations Command headquarters, attended by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, and Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations. The meeting included the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, commanders and representatives from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and intelligence agencies, as well as representatives from the Prisons Administration at the Ministry of Justice.



The meeting also included, via closed-circuit television, commanders of operations, police, and Popular Mobilization Forces axes in the provinces.”



He added, “During the meeting, security plans were discussed and reviewed, and work within the areas of responsibility was evaluated. The overall security situation in the country was also analyzed, and intelligence efforts were assessed. The meeting also addressed prison security, defining tasks and responsibilities, and the ongoing operation to secure the Iraqi-Syrian border and the borders with other neighboring countries, as well as the implementation of plans and procedures specific to the holy month of Ramadan.”



According to the statement, the attendees commended the intelligence successes and the results achieved in pursuing the remnants of terrorist groups.



The statement continued, “The meeting included a number of interventions and discussions from the attendees, related to the success of security operations in all areas of responsibility and the intensification of efforts to provide a safe and suitable environment during the holy month.”
