Al-Sudani and National Masses Party Stand Against Iraq Becoming Conflict Arena

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and members of the National Masses Party parliamentary bloc have firmly asserted their opposition to Iraq being used as a battleground for external conflicts or as a site for settling regional and international disputes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office elaborated on a meeting held on Thursday, where al-Sudani engaged with Parliament members from the National Masses Party bloc. The discussions focused on the prevailing conditions in Iraq, particularly the ongoing military activities and their implications on the nation’s security and economic situation.

The statement explicitly condemned recent aggressions targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces’ positions across various governorates. It also reiterated the collective stance against the transformation of Iraq into a conflict zone, emphasizing that the country’s territory should not serve as a ground for external powers to resolve their disputes.

The meeting underscored the importance of unified coordination among political entities and the consolidation of a national dialogue, especially amidst the current challenges confronting Iraq and the broader region. The leaders highlighted the urgency of completing constitutional requirements in a manner that safeguards Iraq’s supreme interests, stability, and sovereignty.
