Turkey Opposes Plans to Ignite Civil War in Iran, Calls for Immediate End to Regional Conflicts

Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that Turkey is firmly against any initiatives aimed at instigating a civil war in Iran or exacerbating conflicts through ethnic or religious divisions. This statement was made during a joint press conference with German counterpart Johannes Wadephul in Ankara. Fidan emphasized the urgency of ending ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and warned against engaging in such destabilizing activities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Minister highlighted Turkey’s diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of violence. He mentioned that Turkey is engaging in discussions with both Iranian and American officials, despite ongoing military operations in the region. Fidan stressed the importance of maintaining Iran’s territorial integrity and avoiding regime change, advocating for a return to normalcy in the area.

Fidan stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is actively communicating with global leaders to resolve the conflict and reduce tensions. He noted that Turkey is prepared for all possible outcomes of the war and is working diligently to ensure the safety of its citizens in the affected areas.

He condemned the war against Iran as “unjust and illegal” and criticized Iran’s attacks on other countries, particularly the Gulf states. Fidan also accused Israel of transferring conflict to Lebanon and highlighted the negative impact of Israeli actions in the region. He urged an immediate cessation of Israeli attacks to prevent Lebanon from collapsing, which would have severe regional repercussions.

Moreover, Fidan called attention to the humanitarian crisis resulting from the displacement of nearly a million people in Lebanon. He criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for its role in the conflict and humanitarian issues in the region. Fidan also stressed the importance of international attention to the Palestinian Gaza Strip, criticizing Israel’s policies in Gaza and the West Bank, especially during Ramadan.

Fidan called for the activation of the Gaza Peace Council to achieve stability and peace. He criticized Israel’s provocative actions against religious sites, particularly the restrictions imposed on Muslims at Al-Aqsa Mosque, deeming them illegal. He also condemned restrictions on Christian places of worship, emphasizing their inappropriateness.
