Diyala: Diyala University has received institutional accreditation after fulfilling the quality requirements and standards set by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. University President Tahseen Hussein Mubarak confirmed to a correspondent from the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that obtaining institutional accreditation represents a significant milestone in the university’s academic journey. He stated that it reflects the considerable efforts exerted by all members of the university community, including faculty and staff, as well as the active role of the colleges and academic departments in implementing quality standards and academic accreditation requirements.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this achievement is the result of continuous institutional work and clear strategic plans adopted by the university over the past years. These plans focused on developing educational programs, raising the level of scientific research, improving the university environment, and enhancing the efficiency of administrative performance, all in line with the requirements of institutional accreditation and reflecting the university’s genuine commitment to the principles of continuous improvement and institutional development.
University President Mubarak pointed out that several colleges and departments at Diyala University have already obtained program accreditation in their various specializations, while other colleges and departments are continuing their work to fulfill the requirements for program accreditation in the coming phase. This contributes to enhancing the quality of higher education outcomes and solidifies the university’s scientific and academic standing at the national level.
He explained that the university will not stop at this achievement but will continue its steady progress towards further academic and research excellence. He noted that a culture of quality has become a firmly established institutional approach in the university’s work, and that the next phase will witness a doubling of efforts to develop academic and research programs and strengthen scientific partnerships in a way that serves the advancement of higher education in Iraq.
This achievement is considered an official recognition of Diyala University’s ability to implement comprehensive quality standards according to approved national standards, which enhances its standing among Iraqi universities as a reputable academic institution striving for sustainable institutional development and establishing a culture of quality in all its scientific and administrative aspects.
For his part, Ali Abdul Hussein, Director of Public Relations and Media at Diyala University, told a correspondent from the NINA news agency that the university’s accreditation comes after it fulfilled the national institutional accreditation criteria and standards. These criteria encompass several key pillars, including: institutional strategy, governance and management, financial and material resources, faculty, students and their services, scientific research and knowledge production, community service, as well as academic programs and curricula. This reflects the integrated institutional performance and coordinated efforts between the university’s administration, its colleges, academic departments, and quality assurance units.
