Baghdad: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, emphasized the importance of Iraq’s security for the Gulf states and the broader region. Speaking at a joint press conference with Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Al-Budaiwi highlighted the significance of his visit to Baghdad and the multiple messages it conveyed. He praised Prime Minister Ali Abdullah Saleh for his actions aimed at ensuring regional stability.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Budaiwi discussed regional developments and de-escalation efforts with the Foreign Minister. He commended the Iraqi government’s initiatives to prevent attacks originating from Iraqi territory against the Gulf states. Al-Budaiwi reiterated that the GCC states remain committed to supporting Iraq’s prosperity and stability.
