Baghdad: The Ministry of Communications recently held a meeting to deliberate on the mechanisms for implementing the National Mapping System (GPS). Minister of Communications Mustafa Sanad led the meeting, which included senior ministry officials and the management of the General Company for Post and Savings. Representatives from Al-Asifa Technical Company and other relevant technical entities were also present to discuss the system’s implementation strategies.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Communications explained that the system’s data will be managed under its umbrella and will function via the internet or independently of it. The system is designed to allow users to pinpoint geographical coordinates across Iraq. This initiative is in collaboration with the Iraqi Postal Service, which aims to establish a unified postal address for every citizen and location in the country. The project is expected to support various service sectors and benefit citizens nationwide.
