Fire Extinguished at Fatima 2 Complex in Basra’s Shatt al-Arab District


Basra: A fire that broke out in a household goods store in the Shatt al-Arab district of Basra has been extinguished. Civil Defense teams in Basra successfully tackled the blaze that erupted in the Fatima 2 complex.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directorate’s media office stated in a press release that firefighting teams utilized a fleet of specialized and support vehicles, along with a snorkel ladder for multi-story buildings, to quickly and efficiently contain the fire. The teams managed to extinguish the fire completely without any loss of life or injuries, with the incident resulting in only minor material damage.



The statement further mentioned that the case has been referred to the forensic evidence department to ascertain the precise cause of the fire. Civil Defense teams have fully closed the building following the provisions of Civil Defense Law No. 44 of 2013, due to its non-compliance with mandated safety and security requirements and instructions.
