Diwaniyah Governor Calls for Increased Water Allocation to Support Agriculture

Baghdad: Diwaniyah Governor Abbas al-Zamili has urged the Ministry of Water Resources to enhance water releases from the al-Abbasiya Canal to bolster the agricultural plan in the province. This call aims to address the needs of farmers who are preparing for the rice planting season.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zamili emphasized the necessity for increased water allocations to assist farmers with lands dedicated to rice cultivation. The governor’s appeal highlights the critical role of adequate water supply in ensuring the success of agricultural activities in Diwaniyah, particularly for rice growers who rely heavily on consistent water access for crop initiation.
