European Union Mission Supports Iraq’s Reform Agenda and Arms Control


Baghdad: The European Union mission in Iraq has expressed its support for the Iraqi government’s reform agenda, particularly its commitment to limiting the possession of weapons to state authorities. This initiative is viewed as a crucial move towards enhancing stability in the region.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the European Union Delegation to Iraq issued a statement following a meeting between the EU ambassadors and Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi. The delegation praised the government’s reform efforts and its dedication to ensuring that weapons are solely under state control. This approach is seen as a vital component for fostering long-term peace and stability in Iraq.



Furthermore, the European Union reiterated its willingness to expand economic and developmental partnerships with Iraq, signaling a commitment to support the country’s growth and stability through collaborative efforts.
