Union Delegation Visits Karbala to Assess Trade Union Operations


Karbala: A union delegation led by Star Danbous Barak, President of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Iraq and Deputy Secretary-General of the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions, visited the holy city of Karbala to gain insight into the reality of union work. The delegation conducted an inspection at the headquarters of the Karbala Trade Union Federation.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Majid Al-Ghanimi, President of the Karbala Trade Union Federation, along with members of the federation’s office, heads of branch unions, and federation staff. An extensive meeting was held to review financial, administrative, and organizational matters pertinent to the federation’s operations in the province. Discussions also included the current state of trade union performance and strategies for its enhancement, focusing on strengthening institutional work and improving services for the working class.



During the meeting, the head of the General Federation underscored the necessity of adhering to administrative and financial regulations and working collaboratively as a team. This approach is expected to boost the performance of the union organization and fulfill its mission of defending workers’ rights and serving their interests. He also praised the Karbala branch for its efforts in consolidating and advancing union work.
