Baghdad: The Ministry of Justice approved its program for the years 2026-2029 on Sunday. In a statement, the Ministry said, "The Judicial Council held its third meeting, chaired by Minister of Justice Khalid Shawani, and attended by undersecretaries, advisors, and directors general. The Council approved the Ministry of Justice's strategic plan for the years 2026-2029, within a comprehensive vision aimed at developing the judicial system and raising the level of institutional performance and judicial services, in line with the requirements of the current phase and the directives of the government program."
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the strategic plan is based on the Ministry's objectives of building an integrated judicial system, founded on the rule of law, good governance, modern legislation, comprehensive digital transformation, combating corruption, and preventing the waste of public funds. The plan also focuses on developing the infrastructure of judicial departments and establishing principles of institutional excellence. This initiative aims to ensure the provision of high-quality and efficient judicial and legal services, enhance the protection of rights and freedoms, strengthen citizens' trust in justice institutions, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in accordance with best international practices.
The statement further highlighted that the plan represents a roadmap for developing all departments within the Ministry, including the Execution Departments, Real Estate Registration, Juvenile Welfare, and Correctional Departments. This will be achieved through modernizing infrastructure, expanding automation and digital transformation projects, enhancing human resource efficiency, and improving the work environment and services provided. These measures aim to strengthen the efficiency of the justice system and keep pace with modern legal and administrative developments.
