Al-Maliki Emphasizes National Unity in Anti-Corruption Efforts

Baghdad: The Head of the State of Law Coalition Nouri Al-Maliki stated on Monday that the fight against corruption is a national priority that demands cooperation among all state authorities.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Maliki conveyed this message during a meeting at his office with a delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s parliamentary bloc. The delegation was led by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Al-Atroshi. The meeting included discussions on the latest political developments in Iraq and issues of mutual interest.

Both parties highlighted the need for enhanced dialogue and understanding among political forces to consolidate stability and support state institutions. They emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling the country’s challenges within the constitutional and legal framework.

The meeting also reviewed the government’s ongoing anti-corruption measures. Al-Maliki stressed the importance of pursuing these efforts with determination, emphasizing that combating corruption requires coordinated action by all state authorities and institutions.

Al-Maliki further urged parliament to fulfill its legislative and oversight roles effectively. He highlighted the necessity of monitoring government institutions’ performance and fostering transparency and accountability to protect public funds and strengthen public confidence in state institutions.

The discussions concluded with an emphasis on maintaining coordination among political forces to serve Iraq’s national interests and improve prospects for stability and development.
