Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament, Haybat al-Halbousi, affirmed to the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and the world his support for religious and cultural diversity in Iraq and his pride in the authentic Christian community.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Halbousi received on Monday the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and the world, His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paul III Nona, and the Archbishop of the Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil, His Grace Bishop Bashar Matti Warda, along with their accompanying delegation, as stated in a press release from the Speaker's Media Office.

The meeting focused on the situation of the Christian community in Iraq, discussing the importance of providing a suitable environment that guarantees its stability and active participation in various fields. Al-Halbousi reiterated his support for religious and cultural diversity in Iraq, highlighting his pride in the authentic Christian community and the significance of preserving this diversity as a fundamental pillar of Iraq's identity and social fabric.

In response, His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paul III Nona expressed gratitude to the Speaker of Parliament, underscoring the importance of continuing joint efforts to promote a culture of dialogue and tolerance, which is essential for achieving stability in the region.
