Al-Zaidi Prioritizes National Reform and US Partnership for Iraq’s Future

Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi confirmed on Sunday that the government is working to restrict weapons and has made progress in this matter, while noting that the government's priority is to build a state that Iraqis can be proud of.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that Iraq is undergoing a significant period of national reform, a long-awaited goal for various segments of society. Since the transformation of 2003 and the end of dictatorship, Iraq has focused on rebuilding institutions, combating terrorism, and reinforcing national unity.

Al-Zaidi, who took office in May, emphasized his commitment to establishing a state that monopolizes legitimate force. He highlighted the progress made in disarming armed groups and integrating them into state institutions, alongside efforts to strengthen the rule of law and improve essential services.

He also reiterated his promise to the Iraqi people that September 30, marking the end of the Coalition forces' mission in Iraq, would signify the start of a new phase of ambitious partnership with the United States. Al-Zaidi plans to visit Washington to deepen this partnership, focusing on transitioning from crisis management to creating economic opportunities.

In his upcoming discussions with President Donald Trump, Al-Zaidi intends to explore investment opportunities in Iraq's infrastructure, energy sector, industry, technology, and digital economy. He underscored the importance of global confidence, stability, and a favorable investment climate for economic progress.

Regional stability, according to Al-Zaidi, is crucial for Iraq's development. He highlighted Iraq's potential as an economic hub due to its substantial oil reserves, natural resources, capable workforce, and large domestic market. Al-Zaidi recognized the U.S. role in fostering international peace and enhancing cooperation between Iraq and its neighbors.

The Prime Minister is also set to discuss advancing the Strategic Framework Agreement, expanding cooperation in education, training, and technology transfer, and enhancing Iraq's security capabilities. He conveyed a message of confidence that Iraq aims to integrate into the global economic and financial systems while maintaining neutrality in regional conflicts.

Al-Zaidi concluded by expressing his commitment to building a future rooted in hope and wisdom, emphasizing Iraq's choice to extend its hand to friends for mutual prosperity.
