Abu dhabi: The Middle East Film and Comic Con 2026 has announced its first guest, Japanese actor Makinyo, who is set to join the event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from September 11 to 13. This year's edition is anticipated to be the largest since the event's inception, attracting anime, gaming, and comic book enthusiasts from around the world.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Makinyo has gained international fame for his role as Roronoa Zoro in the live-action adaptation of "One Piece." Attendees will have the chance to meet Makinyo through autograph sessions and photo opportunities. He will also participate in panel discussions to share insights into his artistic career and experiences working on one of the most famous manga-based projects. Organizers have hinted that more announcements regarding A-list stars, content creators, and international talents in anime, gaming, and pop culture will be made in the coming weeks, highlighting preparations for the most significant edition in the event's history.
The exhibition has also unveiled the first three members of its Comic Creators Club: Jim Cheung, Federico Vicentini, and Brett Bedding. These artists have achieved global recognition through their work on some of the world's most iconic comics and characters, offering fans a unique opportunity to meet creators who have significantly impacted the comics industry.
As the region's largest pop culture event, the Middle East Film and Comic Con 2026 will feature over 12 zones and interactive experiences, including entertainment, games, anime, and art. The event will host live performances and competitions on the main stage, with an "Otaku Zone" celebrating anime, manga, and Asian culture. Additionally, it will offer a variety of gaming areas and a collectible card game arena, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience for all attendees.
