Bogot¡: The death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck Colombia yesterday has risen to 132, with 570 injured. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Colombian authorities have reported that 32 cities are under a red alert. The most severe situations are in Pereira and other areas of the Pereira region, as well as the departments of Valle del Cauca and Choc³.
The earthquake caused significant damage to infrastructure, with 1,575 residential buildings damaged and 61 completely destroyed. Additionally, 18 medical facilities, 52 educational institutions, 18 road sections, and seven airports were affected. In response, Colombian authorities have declared a national state of natural disaster.
Rescue units have been dispatched to the most affected areas, with search and rescue teams from Bogot¡, Envigado, Yobal, and Medelln actively participating in recovery efforts.
