Baghdad: The Prime Minister’s advisor, Qasim al-Araji, has emphasized that the initiative to limit weapon possession to state control is intended to develop a regulatory framework by law, rather than to overlook the contributions of those who have fought against terrorism. This statement comes amidst efforts to ensure that weapon management aligns with legal standards while acknowledging the sacrifices made by Iraqi citizens in safeguarding their homeland.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Araji articulated that the individuals who played a role in defeating terrorism are regarded with pride and honor. He clarified that the measure to restrict weapons solely under state control is designed to form an organized structure that safeguards fighters and their families, ensuring their rights are protected legally and socially under the governance of the Armed Forces’ General Command.

He further elaborated on the importance of crafting media messages with precision to foster a sense of reassurance and national unity, rather than instilling a sense of threat. Al-Araji underscored that the government’s primary focus remains on the security of its citizens and the well-being of the fighters and their families.

Al-Araji also noted that genuine feedback is considered essential for enhancing the media message through official channels. This approach aims to prevent any misuse of fears or misrepresentation of national objectives.
