Iraqi Universities Showcase Excellence in National Robotics and AI Championship


Baghdad: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Tuesday the final results of the 2026 National University Championship for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Haider Abd said in a ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the results reflected an advanced level of scientific and technological competition, as well as the students’ capabilities and skills in applying robotics and artificial intelligence technologies and developing innovative solutions to the challenges presented.



According to Iraqi News Agency, Abd highlighted the growing academic interest in modern technological disciplines and applications. He commended the efforts of the ministry’s supervisory team, participating universities, and scientific and technical committees, praising the high scientific and technological standards demonstrated by the student teams and the competitive spirit that characterized the championship.



He noted that the championship serves as a national platform for identifying student talent and developing capabilities in technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence. It also aims to prepare a generation of skilled professionals capable of keeping pace with rapidly evolving scientific and technological developments, while supporting the transformation of innovative student projects into initiatives suitable for incubation, development, and commercialization through technology incubators.



The official explained that student teams competed in six tracks: agriculture, community service, medicine, industry, education and teaching, and the environment. In the agricultural track, Al-Nahrain University, Al-Noor University, Southern Technical University, Al-Ain University, and the University of Technology achieved the top results.



In the community service track, Northern Technical University, University of Information and Communication Technology, and University of Technology secured the leading positions. The medical track saw Northern Technical University, University of Babylon, University of Mosul, Al-Naji University, and Nineveh University achieve the listed results.



In the education and teaching track, the leading results went to Middle Technical University, Al-Safwa University, Tikrit University, Al-Noor University, and University of Mosul. The environmental track was led by the universities of Mosul, Babylon, Technology, Al-Noor, and Al-Safwa.



In the industrial track, the results were achieved, in order, by the University of Technology, University of Karbala, Al-Mustansiriyah University, University of Mosul, Northern Technical University, and Al-Ain Iraqi University.
