Baghdad: The Ministry of Agriculture engaged in discussions with a delegation from the Turkish Embassy to organize trade exchange and ensure food security.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s Technical Undersecretary, Mithaq Abdul Hussein, met with Fatih Cenk, the Commercial Attach© at the Turkish Embassy in Iraq. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and activating trade exchange between the two countries, especially in the livestock and food industries.
The Ministry’s statement revealed that both parties explored the regulation of import operations through border crossings using the electronic ASYCUDA system. This would align with the requirements of the agricultural calendar and local seasons.
Abdul Hussein emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to protecting national products and local markets from dumping, which is crucial for maintaining economic balance and stability. He also highlighted the depth of understanding and strong ties between Iraq and Turkey, noting the reciprocal facilitations offered by the Ministry within its vision to secure strategic food security.
