Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday that a counterfeit currency factory had been seized and several suspects arrested, while affirming that crime rates have declined and the borders are fully secured.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Ministry of Interior spokesman Mohammed Al-Hassoun disclosed during a press conference at the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that the ministry has recorded a decline in crime rates. He noted that security operations led to the seizure of 12 kilograms of narcotic substances and the arrest of numerous suspects.

Al-Hassoun highlighted that the Border Forces continue to secure Iraq’s borders using thermal cameras and a concrete wall. He added that individuals involved in forging currency were apprehended, and a factory dedicated to counterfeiting currency was seized.
