Baghdad: The Security Media Cell announced today, Thursday, that the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces discussed border security and intelligence exchange with a Saudi security delegation.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Cell said, “The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces received today a high-level security and military delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” The statement added that “the two sides held an expanded meeting attended by Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, Director of the Commander-in-Chief’s Office, and the head of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, along with deputies and directors of security and intelligence agencies.”

The statement continued, “This meeting was a continuation of previous discussions and dialogues held in Riyadh, and a continuation of ongoing security coordination between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.” It explained that “the discussions focused on strengthening measures to control the shared border and intensifying the exchange of intelligence information, which will contribute to raising the level of bilateral cooperation.”

The participants affirmed “the mutual commitment to strengthening and developing security mechanisms in a way that positively impacts the security and stability of the two brotherly countries.”
