Baghdad: The Reconstruction and Development parliamentary bloc has called on the government to take decisive action to address the issue of uncontrolled weapons following a tragic incident in the Dora area.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the bloc issued a statement condemning the attack that targeted security forces and Baghdad Municipality personnel, resulting in the deaths of Brigadier General Hisham Muhammad Tala’a, the Baghdad Municipality Police Chief for the Karkh district, and one security officer. Two police officers and two municipal employees were also injured in the attack while performing their duties.

The statement further urged security and intelligence agencies to act quickly in pursuing the perpetrators and bringing them to justice. The bloc emphasized that the blood of security forces and law enforcement officers is a red line that cannot be crossed. They called for accountability for all those involved in the criminal act, stressing that no justification exists for attacks on security agencies and state institutions.

Highlighting the gravity of the incident, the statement underscored the need for the government to implement measures to eradicate the phenomenon of uncontrolled weapons. The bloc insisted that weapons must be confined to state control to protect citizens’ lives and ensure the country’s stability.
