Sanaa:Faihan First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Faihan affirmed Parliament’s support for any measure that achieves reform while serving the economy’s and citizens’ best interests.
According to Iraqi News Agency, during an expanded meeting with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and the Governor of the Central Bank, Faihan highlighted the government’s decision to raise the dollar exchange rate. This decision, aimed at addressing the economic situation, has significant effects on citizens’ lives and standards of living and broader economic implications.
Faihan called on the government to outline measures to mitigate the decision’s impact on vulnerable and low-income groups, emphasizing the need for strengthened market oversight and price controls to prevent economic and social burdens from affecting citizens.
The meeting, held at the Parliament building’s Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis Hall, was attended by Parliament leadership, Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, the Minister of Finance, the Central Bank Governor, and heads of political blocs. Faihan stressed the importance of the government pursuing additional reformist steps to address economic challenges and bolster financial stability, reaffirming Parliament’s support for any serious and responsible measures that serve the national economy and protect citizens’ interests.
