Abboud Clarifies Cabinet’s Position on Salary Scale Issue

Abboud: Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud has stated that the Cabinet is not delaying the resolution of the salary scale issue. He mentioned that this matter will be revisited on the 31st of this month to finalize the agreement.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Tourism Minister emphasized that it is not feasible for the government to hold open sessions to ratify the higher salary wages immediately, as the matter requires a thorough study of at least 10 days to consider all facets. Abboud highlighted that the proposed salary increase would be unprecedented in Lebanon's history, describing it as a financial revolution. However, he noted that the portion of the raise allocated for retirees has yet to be determined.

Furthermore, Abboud mentioned that revising the smoking ban law is expected to take several years to implement, indicating the complexity and time needed for such legislative changes.
